Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal called the West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island, although this is not true. Brugel developed on Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she had. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case it was because of the advice from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to take the step she wanted. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the the school's annual show. She tried out and eventually got the lead in Anne of Green Gables. She was given a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work has been seen on the small and large screen. She gained the most attention when she won her character of Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few instances in the initial season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
