Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known for his role as the star of the well-known television series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. At the age of 18, he began to take an interest in acting. While at his school, the University of Colorado at Boulder, he studied acting. While he was active on TV and film, his roles on the small screen were what earned him fame. The actor is able to play characters from both the bad and good sides in the law enforcement system. He is able attract the attention of his audience effortlessly. He played the part of a serial killer on his first television series project however he later chose to play the role as an NYPD detective. In recognition of his performance on the small screen, he's been nominated several times for the prestigious Emmy Awards. The actor is famous for his blue piercing eyes, which have turned into a signature and helped in portraying tough characters with a sense of humor. In 2006, he was featured in the People's Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive list.
